Match one physical model to a shared document

A 3403-20 label points to a schematic document listing both 3403-20 and 3404-20, its identifier and printed date.

  1. 1 · Read the actual label

Keep full model, Type or service identifier and market separate; do not replace them with a kit name.

  2. 2 · Read scope and revision

58-14-3400d2 covers both tools; 09/22 is the printed date, while hammer instructions remain 3404-20 only.

Original explanatory layout, not a copied cover or website screenshot. Shared coverage does not grant the other model’s functions.

Separate tool identity from package identity

For normal equipment that is safe to approach, stop and isolate as instructed before reading the external label. Do not approach active smoke, leaks or abnormal heating just to identify it. Record full model and suffix, Type/service code and market. Keep the individual serial privately.

Tool, battery, charger and kit each have identities. A package name does not identify every current component. If markings are unclear, use existing purchase information and official support; do not open the housing or infer identity from appearance.

Complete the 3403-20 lookup

Assume a clear physical 3403-20 label and confirmed US-market tool. This is a reproducible document lookup, not a guarantee for unknown equipment.

  1. On Milwaukee’s US website, search the full 3403-20 and open its M12 FUEL 1/2-inch Drill/Driver page. Check the page model rather than selecting an adjacent 3404 or kit code.
  2. Under Product Documents, open 58-14-3400d2. The adjacent 54-06-2260 is a parts list, not operating instructions.
  3. Read the PDF cover: it lists 3403-20 and 3404-20, with Drill/Driver and Hammer Drill/Driver. Shared coverage does not add hammering to 3403.
  4. Match model-specific passages. Hammer instructions apply only to 3404-20; finding a feature word does not make that section applicable to your label.
  5. Read the final page: printed identifier 58143400d2 and date 09/22. Record these alongside download identifier 58-14-3400d2; an access date is not a revision date.
  6. Save the PDF with the official originating address, download date and applicability confirmed/pending result. A suggested organizational filename is 3403-20_US_58-14-3400d2_09-22.pdf, not a manufacturer naming requirement.

If the website, file identifier or cover differs, investigate the new information rather than forcing the lookup to reproduce this example. Regional, Type or physical-control differences need official confirmation.

Keep different identifier fields separate

Swipe or scroll horizontally to see all columns.

Field Example Purpose
Sales/package identifier Bosch US GSR12V-300N Identifies the listing, not a replacement for the tool model
Tool model GSR12V-300 Finds the relevant tool information
Service identifier That US record lists 3601JH8010 Further identifies service/parts information
Type The listed DEWALT DCD800 download specifies Type 1 Match the physical Type, not other Types
File and printed date 58-14-3400d2 and 09/22 Identifies the particular saved document

These are field examples, not cross-brand compatibility. Translating instructions does not change the tool’s market, electrical specification or applicable revision.

Record both sides of a capacity conflict

For Bosch GSR12V-300, 2610051568, 12/2018, printed page 8 lists wood 3/4 inch and screws 9/32 inch. Document 2610056578, 04/2020, printed page 10 lists wood 1¼ inch (32 mm) and screws 5/16 inch (8 mm).

Give official support both identifiers, pages, exact differences and the physical service code. Until unit applicability is established, newer, larger or higher in search results is not permission to use the greater capacity. These are specific questions to resolve, not optional limits to choose between.

Save a reusable reference record

Fill in tool model____; Type/service code____; market____; official entry page____; operating-manual identifier/date____; cover models____; passages restricted to other models____; unresolved differences____; support confirmation____.

Keep separate battery, charger and important accessory records. A compatibility list addresses pairing, charger instructions address charging and parts lists identify components; none replaces operating instructions. The next chuck, indicator or service question can then return to a matched document instead of another guess from search results.
