Same printed bulletin, different dates

Both 3601 files print 54-06-2995 and N66A. Keep filename and date together and have service match your full serial.

Photograph the external label, not internal components

Do not approach, touch or remove a smoking, leaking or persistently abnormally hot pack to read labels. Keep away and seek local emergency guidance. Inspect only stable, safely approachable equipment after it has fully stopped and power is disconnected. Do not open the housing to find numbers.

Record Cat. No., complete serial, battery and charger identities separately. 3601-20 identifies the tool; 3601-22CT identifies a purchased package, useful for invoices but not a substitute for the tool label. Photograph legible characters and share the full serial privately with necessary authorized service, not public posts.

Distinguish four bulletin identities

These are PDF first-page headers, not permission to apply every listed part to every similarly named tool.

Tool Filename Printed bulletin Date Serial field
3403-20 54-06-2260.pdf 54-06-2260 February 2022 Starting Serial No. M79A
3601-20 54-06-2995.pdf 54-06-2995 April 2023 Starting Serial No. N66A
3601-20 54-06-2995R.pdf 54-06-2995 July 2025 Serial No. N66A
2904-20 54-24-2990R.pdf 54-24-2990 May 2025 Serial No. M64A

M79A, N66A and M64A are applicability clues, not your complete serial. Ordering from a shared prefix alone can miss revision conditions.

The revised 3601 filename adds R but still prints 54-06-2995. Both documents retain N66A, so catalog, prefix or filename alone cannot establish unchanged content. Record the date too.

Go from the product page to the correct file

  1. Search Milwaukee’s official site for the complete tool catalog, such as 3601-20. Confirm it is not another tool or only a package listing.
  2. Open Manuals / Parts List. Save the operating manual and relevant parts bulletin separately: use instructions and service identification are different purposes.
  3. Compare tool name, Catalog No., Serial No. or Starting Serial No., Bulletin No. and date on page one.
  4. If both 3601 bulletins appear, record April 2023 and July 2025 separately. A download date is not the document date.
  5. Give authorized service your actual full serial and document identities before ordering a user-replaceable accessory.

If two versions remain listed, do not assume the newer automatically applies to every older tool. A similar 2904 chuck or housing drawing does not establish interchangeability with 3601.

Prepare a useful service request

Include catalog and full serial, battery and charger models, material/bit/gear and symptoms when the fault occurred, relevant drops or moisture, recent accessory changes, and the bulletin number, filename and date.

For example: “My tool is 3601-20; the complete serial is in the privately supplied label photo. I found 54-06-2995 dated April 2023 and the R filename dated July 2025, both showing N66A. Please confirm which applies and whether the required replacement is within owner maintenance.” This is more useful than asking whether a pictured part looks right.

A drawing is not authorization to dismantle

Bulletins can contain internal wiring, chuck-removal and fastening instructions for qualified service. Do not open the housing, repair cells, motors or mains chargers merely because a drawing exists, or repeatedly reproduce a dangerous fault for video.

If the label is unreadable, provide exterior photos, purchase records and readable characters to official service. Resolve identity and applicability first, then repair or replacement, to avoid incorrect parts and repeated returns.
