The tool label and the box label have different jobs

A generic tool label has three numbered fields, beside a separate package label.

  1. 1 · Tool model

Use it to identify the operating instructions.

  2. 2 · Ten-character identifier

Match service information to the physical tool.

  3. 3 · Serial number

Keep the individual unit identifier private.

  4. 4 · Sales package code

Use the box or order to check supplied items.

Field map only: actual label layout varies. Copy your own tool, not an example number.

Four fields with different jobs

Different numbers on a store page, manual and service record are not automatically errors. First decide whether each identifies a package or the tool inside it. These US examples are not a universal suffix dictionary.

Field GSR12V-300 example GSR18V-400 example GSB18V-975C example
Sales package GSR12V-300N GSR18V-400B12 GSB18V-975CN
Included tool GSR12V-300 GSR18V-400 GSB18V-975C
Product URL identifier 06019H8016 06019K3218 06019G031M
Service identifier shown 3601JH8010 3601JK3210 3601JG0311; linked record also names GSB18V-755C, requiring clarification

For a missing battery, quote the complete GSR18V-400B12 package. For tool service, also give GSR18V-400 and its actual nameplate identifier. Do not automatically enter the URL’s 06019K3218 as the number printed on the tool.

Copy the physical label

  1. Switch off, remove the battery and examine the exterior nameplate in good light. Do not open the housing.
  2. Copy the model exactly. Put the ten-character product or Type identifier on a separate line, retaining letters and leading zeros.
  3. Record the serial separately and privately. It identifies the individual tool, not the generic parts family.
  4. Read the sales code from the box or order. Ask the seller about a mismatch rather than deleting suffixes to make the records agree.
  5. Photograph the label clearly and check easily confused characters such as 0/O and 1/I. Ask official support about an unreadable label; appearance is not enough to reconstruct it.

A useful completed record starts: “Order: GSR18V-400B12. Tool: GSR18V-400. Ten-character identifier: copied from this tool. Battery and charger: recorded separately.” Fill the third field only after examining your own label. The webpage identifiers above are comparison aids, not numbers to copy indiscriminately onto every tool record.

A specific 975CN mismatch

As checked on 23 October 2026, the 975CN-linked service record pairs 3601JG0311 with the name GSB18V-755C. A link from the expected product page does not establish interchangeable parts when the name conflicts.

Give Bosch your actual model, ten-character identifier and proposed part number. Ask: “My label shows [model] and [identifier], but the product link names GSB18V-755C. Which parts diagram applies, and is part [number] suitable? ” That is more useful for ordering than asking whether two model families are “the same.”

Select the applicable manual section

The 03/2021 shared manual covers GSR and GSB versions of 975C and 755C. Several models on one cover do not mean that every tool has every function. Check whether a paragraph applies to GSR or GSB before following mode instructions; hammer-drilling directions do not belong to a tool without that mode.

Store the model, market and manual revision with the file. Keep using the physical tool identifier for parts, rather than substituting the manual’s document number. Each number then has one clear purpose from purchase through use and service.
