What has changed now
As of October 2026, the North American site has a Metabo conversion-products page showing items such as LF 850 S and GE 710 Plus under Metabo HPT. Its current transition information explains service and battery-platform arrangements, so owners need not rely solely on a projected completion date in an older announcement.
The manufacturer describes a North American change, with the Metabo name continuing elsewhere. Existing tools remain supported and warranties continue under their applicable terms; batteries and chargers remain available for the foreseeable future. That does not promise every retailer has changed every box or that a particular part is in local stock.
Use the current regional support route, but start document matching with the actual tool’s model. Do not rename an old model into a similar-looking new one yourself.
Separate three different questions
Swipe or scroll horizontally to see all columns.
| Question | Check | Insufficient evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Can my old tool be serviced? | Original model, serial, region and service scope | A website’s new brand name |
| Will a new battery work? | Exact tool and pack, explicit compatibility | Green color or an 18V label |
| Is this my manual? | Cover model, region, document code and revision | First search result or similar photograph |
New Metabo HPT cordless offerings move toward MultiVolt. Continued battery and charger support for older Metabo equipment is a separate commitment. Shared branding does not change old contacts, latches or protection communication. Without exact-model confirmation, do not trial-fit, modify contacts or buy an unidentified adapter.
Start with the old physical label
First establish safe approach. Do not approach, touch or remove a smoking, leaking or persistently abnormally hot battery just to photograph it; keep away and seek local emergency guidance. For stable safe equipment, disconnect power and inspect only external labels, without opening housings.
- Copy original brand, full model, serial and purchase region without changing the identity to match new website branding.
- Record battery and charger models separately, including charger input. Replace “old Metabo battery” with the actual label code.
- Search the regional manufacturer support site by original model and check inside the opened file, not just its web title.
- If redirected or shown a similarly named series, ask service to match the original model and serial to the document and power combination. Unresolved identity is not permission to use the nearest-looking option.
This record helps with service, replacement batteries and used purchases. Share serials privately with the relevant service provider rather than publicly.
A completed lookup example
For an actual DS18DEX, open Owners Manual from its current product page. The cover lists DS18DEX / DV18DEX; the final-page identifier is C99268561 G, print code 208. Read the DS column, not the DV hammer functions just because both share a file.
The current DS18DEX kit lists BSL1820M 2Ah, part 377797M, and UC18YKSL. A useful record is: DS18DEX; BSL1820M / 377797M; UC18YKSL; manual C99268561 G / 208; US region. That establishes specific identities, unlike “green 18V should work.”
If the physical tool is a different older Metabo model, keep that model and look it up separately. Do not substitute this DS18DEX record. Corporate or branding relationships do not establish a common battery platform.
Decide whether a platform change is actually needed
Existing owners should first identify whether the missing item is a repair, battery or whole tool. A new brand name alone does not require replacing usable equipment. If adding MultiVolt tools, include suitable batteries, charger and spares in the cost rather than assuming old packs transfer.
Ask service for the current manual and compatibility of your exact original tool, battery and charger in the purchase region. Exact codes produce a more useful answer than asking only whether brands merged. Imported chargers need a separate local-mains check; common branding does not mean common input requirements.
