Record the machine before selecting a PDF

Read labels only on stable equipment safe to approach. Stop according to the tool’s requirements, wait for all motion to cease and safely isolate power. For smoke, continuing abnormal heat or a hazardous battery, do not approach, touch or remove anything for photographs; address safety first.

Record actual body model, visible Type, full serial number, power marking and sales market. List packaging separately: DCW210B relates to the DCW210 body, and DWE6423K is a package associated with DWE6423. B or K package information does not replace Type; Type is not the individual complete serial number.

Record identity from externally visible labels; do not dismantle the tool if their location is unclear. Photograph those labels; mark Type unconfirmed if unreadable or not found. Do not dismantle the tool or copy the identity from an online photograph.

Practice reading these two documented files

These North American manuals have identifiable internal markings; this table does not promise permanent latest-version status. Printed dates indicate documents, not your tool’s manufacturing date.

Match the actual tool and download entry first, then read the cover, internal number and model-specific content. The path’s /2 and Type 2 are clues, not proof that every similarly named tool is covered. Save the corresponding body and your matching notes alongside the original filename without merging filename and internal number into one field.

Understand printed and download dates

A newer product page may link an older printed document; having saved an old file does not remove the need to check applicability later. Download date tells when you obtained it, not that Sep18 became a new revision.

Related DCW210 listings also expose newer Type 2 filenames. N648180 Sep18 is therefore a clearly identified older reading example here, not the latest manual for every currently sold DCW210. Start from the current official entry for the exact product and market, compare markings inside the downloaded file and ask DEWALT if content or applicability differs.

Do not select solely by the newest date or combine newer foreign electrical requirements with an older tool’s instructions. Complete applicability matters more than apparent document age.

Read the exact model row in shared manuals

The DWE6423 example covers three machines, with different abrasive attachment. Its table assigns PSA paper to DWE6420 and hook-and-loop to DWE6423; the speed-dial section is also model-specific to DWE6423. A common cover does not transfer DWE6420 paper fitting to DWE6423.

Battery and charger sections in the DCW210 example do not guide corded DWE6423 power arrangements. Before following a step, check whether it names a particular model and whether your tool has the corresponding control. If not, remain at document identification rather than forcing an accessory or powering the tool to test a guess.

The same applies to diagram callouts: they locate a feature, but the corresponding model’s text controls the instruction. A missing control is not a reason to open the housing looking for a hidden dial.

Unit descriptions do not approve pad interchange

The two example files describe five-inch discs with metric values of 127 mm and 125 mm respectively. Preserve those descriptions without inventing a permitted size tolerance or declaring all 125/127-marked backing pads interchangeable.

Abrasives still need the standard size category, attachment, actual openings and exact-tool applicability. Replacement backing pads also need the correct dedicated interface and part identity. “Five inch” does not resolve those conditions. Shared models, close units and similar appearance are further checking clues, not purchasing approval.

Leave a clear matching result

Save actual body and Type, market and power, official filename, and internal Part No. with date. Mark the specific section needed, such as DWE6423 hook-and-loop fitting and speed adjustment, rather than merely bookmarking the whole PDF.

For missing Type, unclear labels or unmatched controls, send existing external photographs and the conflicting fields to DEWALT and ask which instructions apply. Pause the affected operation while awaiting clarification. Do not open motor, battery or charger housings. Correct document matching does not prove a fault-free tool, complete recall clearance or parts availability.

Read inside the file as well as its Type entry

These are dated examples, not a latest-version guarantee. Type 2 is a download-entry matching field; check the internal Part No. and printed date separately. This is not a document-cover replica or nameplate-location drawing.
