A 12 mm catalogue length difference

Metric dimensions from the same 2026 catalogue give 154 and 166 mm. Bars start at zero; add actual bit, grip and battery space before deciding access.

Identify the shared features before the extra mode

US DL6293B-00 is a drill/driver; HD 6294B-00 adds hammer drilling. Both brushless PWR CORE 20 models publish 0–500 / 0–1,800 rpm and up to 450 in-lb. Hammer capability does not establish faster ordinary drilling or more precise screwdriving.

Impact rates follow the matching manual. The current HD page prints “0-7,500/0-2,7000 IPM”; silently repairing punctuation is not new verification. Neither page’s weight field specifies the battery condition, so no confirmed bare-weight advantage is calculated.

Apply the 12 mm difference to the opening

The same 2026 catalogue gives metric lengths of 154 and 166 mm, a 12 mm difference. Its inch values are rounded; converting those back would imply a different precision. Equal published width and height do not guarantee identical hand clearance.

For a cabinet pilot hole, measure from hole centre to the rear obstruction, add bit projection and hand space. DL6293B’s shorter body can matter near the limit. If neither fits, change work sequence or tool arrangement; do not clamp a bit crookedly.

Only handle stable equipment safe to approach. A smoking, leaking or persistently abnormally hot pack must not be approached, touched or removed for this check; keep away and seek local emergency guidance. Normally release the trigger, wait for a complete stop, remove the pack and keep it removed. Use its dimensions for bottom clearance, never power into a gap.

Three tasks, different decisions

Swipe or scroll horizontally to see all columns.

Regular task What matters
Furniture screws, wood pilots, small metal holes Compare rotary mode, access, control and complete price
Suitable brick, block or concrete installation holes Only HD has hammer; tool, bit, diameter, depth and substrate must all fit
Tile faces, plastic, metal or wood No hammer action; HD instructions exclude hammer use in these materials

For walls, confirm anchors and substrate, locate hidden services and arrange dust control and stable work. The manual’s 13 mm is chuck size, not a masonry capacity. A 13 mm chuck does not establish that 13 mm holes in concrete are permitted. Frequent large/deep holes or hard concrete may need a suitable rotary hammer.

Before returning from masonry to screws, stop, wait and remove the pack; leave hammer mode and select appropriate clutch and gear. With fingers off the trigger, reinstall a compatible pack securely, check direction, then trial on representative scrap. Do not retain the wall-drilling settings.

Include lighting and packaging

Both compact models have a WORKLIGHT button. Trigger lighting has about 10 seconds after-glow; button lighting turns off after about 10 inactive minutes. The button is disabled during operation. It is not a unique HD advantage.

DL6293B-10 lists one BY519702 2Ah, QC536001, clip, bit and battery jacket. HD 6294B-00 lists tool, clip and bit, without battery/charger. The HD 6294B-10 catalogue lists 2Ah PWR ASSIST, Auto PWR JUMP charger, clip, bit and jacket; confirm exact delivered battery/charger codes before buying. A bare price and complete-kit price are not directly comparable.

Existing PWR CORE 20 owners should choose around real rotary or masonry work. New buyers need the cost of battery, charger and suitable bits too. An extra mode is an advantage only when it can be used properly.
