DEWALT: shared discs, different power arrangements
DCW210 and DWE6423 use five-inch eight-hole hook-and-loop discs; compare the complete power and collection setup rather than treating equal speed ranges as equal performance.
DCW210Cordless random-orbit sander
- DCW210B: tool only, battery and charger separate.
- 5-inch, eight-hole hook-and-loop abrasive.
- 8,000–12,000 OPM variable control.
DWE6423Corded random-orbit sander
- 3 A corded tool; DWE6423K is a kit listing.
- 5-inch, eight-hole hook-and-loop abrasive.
- 8,000–12,000 OPM variable control.

Put the two machines on the same footing
This comparison covers the US DCW210 and DWE6423. DCW210B is a cordless tool-only sales configuration; DWE6423K identifies a corded kit. Read the machine model and the actual contents rather than relying on one suffix in a listing.

| Item | DCW210 | DWE6423 |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 20V MAX platform, 18 V nominal; compatible battery required | Corded; product specifies a 3 A motor, supply must match nameplate |
| Variable speed | 8,000–12,000 OPM | 8,000–12,000 OPM |
| Standard abrasive | Five-inch, eight-hole, hook-and-loop disc | Five-inch, eight-hole, hook-and-loop disc |
| Work planning | Available batteries, charging and shared-tool demand | Suitable supply, cable distance and routing |
| Movement | No power cable; external extraction still has a hose | Both power cable and extraction hose need routing |
3 A and 20 V are not comparable power scores. Equal OPM ranges do not prove equal removal, vibration or finish: abrasive, timber, extraction and technique affect the result.
Buyer one: a fixed bench and no battery system
For boards at one bench with a suitable supply nearby, list the complete DWE6423 purchase: actual tool or kit, correct discs, extraction connection and a suitable extension cord only if needed. Once power is arranged, this tool does not need a battery rotation plan.
Then complete the DCW210 list: a compatible battery and charger as well as the tool, abrasives and extraction. Do not compare a discounted bare-tool price with another ready-to-work setup. If your extractor needs an adapter, include it in both lists where applicable rather than charging it only to the corded option.
Buyer two: batteries available and changing locations
If you already have compatible, serviceable batteries and a charger, DCW210B can avoid duplicate purchases. Check actual availability: a battery normally occupied by a drill needed at the same time is not a spare just because you own it.
No power cable does not eliminate hose drag or the need to support the work. Plan the work position, extraction and hose route before valuing mobility. If another battery is needed, price its exact model; do not turn an Ah rating into an invented runtime.
Compare the load in the configuration you will use
For DCW210, specify the body plus the particular battery and whether a dust bag or hose is attached. For DWE6423, specify the collection attachment and cable support. Different batteries change balance and rear clearance; a bare-tool figure is not the working configuration.
If a store permits a handling comparison, use only an approved display setup that is off and protected against accidental starting. Do not connect power or install a battery and start it yourself. Check grip, ability to keep the pad flat and whether the battery or hose obstructs your intended position. Without matched configuration weights, do not invent a lighter/heavier ranking.
Shared discs do not make every accessory interchangeable
Check all three disc features: five-inch size, eight holes and hook-and-loop backing. Center the disc flat and align extraction holes. The manuals use 127 mm and 125 mm respectively; that is not evidence of better precision. Matching disc size also does not establish replacement-pad mounting compatibility.
The shared DWE6420/DWE6423 manual includes adhesive-paper instructions for DWE6420, not the standard DWE6423 hook pad. Neither machine compared here is for drywall sanding. Do not put drywall screen directly on the hooks or treat the supplied bag as hazardous-dust protection.
Check four things before ordering
- Record the full sales model and contents, including whether battery, charger, bag and case are actually supplied.
- Match the machine’s market, electrical label and Type when selecting instructions or service parts.
- Check extraction connections. The products identify direct DWV010/DWV012 connections and DWV9000 for other systems with 1-1/4-inch hoses. Physical connection alone does not establish suitable filtration for every material.
- Add missing equipment, shipping and tax to each current quotation before choosing.
Stop for unknown old coatings or suspected hazardous material until the material and controls are established. A different sander does not resolve that problem. Electrical damage, abnormal noise or uncontrolled pad behavior on an existing tool requires service, not a comparative trial with a faulty machine.
Compare the configuration in your hand
These are schematic arrangements, not product outlines or a weight ranking; battery size and supported connections change the handling conditions.
1. Battery fitted
Name the battery before comparing balance and rear clearance.
2. Cable and hose managed
Include collection attachments and the way the connections are supported.
