Paper and pad are different purchases

Paper is the replaceable abrasive. The backing pad supports and attaches it. Sellers may call either a “pad”, so first decide whether the abrasive is worn or the supporting component is damaged.

Hook-and-loop triangle paper CDA9004 explicitly lists SR250801 Package identity, required grit, attachment and holes

CDA9004 contains twenty sheets: five each in 60, 80, 120 and 240 grit. This is package content, not an instruction to begin every job at 60 or use all four grades. Delicate surfaces may not suit the coarse sheets.

Why dimensions alone are insufficient

The SR250801 product specification has stated 6 × 4-1/8 inches, while the 2025 catalogue states 4 × 5-3/4 inches. They are not simply equivalent rounded values. CDA9004 is marketed as five-inch triangle paper, which is another reason not to use a product name as a cutting template.

Start with tool identity and explicit accessory compatibility, then attachment and extraction holes. Use dimensions as a cross-check, not the deciding evidence. Do not trim oversize paper or add holes to rescue a mismatch.

Check a paper purchase

  1. Read SR250801 on the tool rather than identifying it by colour.
  2. Check the complete CDA9004 package code and actual grit. For another brand, require explicit model compatibility, not merely “universal mouse sander”.
  3. Switch off, wait for stopping and unplug. Remove the old paper and inspect the pad.
  4. Match the new sheet’s tip, perimeter and holes, then press the hook-and-loop backing evenly into place.
  5. Check for unsupported areas, lifted edges and blocked openings. Do not run a poorly fitted sheet to bed it in.

Abrasive suitability for a material does not automatically establish tool or dust-control suitability. Unknown coatings still require assessment before sanding.

Check the body identity for a pad

The parts list calls 3706706001 “Soft Pad”, item 2, for SR250801 body number 0560161002, Version A. Item 2 locates the drawing entry; 3706706001 identifies the part for an order or enquiry.

Record the visible body information and confirm its match with the parts supplier or service route. Unreadable identification, another body version or a seller offering only similar dimensions needs clarification before purchase. A parts list identifies a component but does not provide all replacement steps or tightening requirements; missing service requirements are not a reason to improvise.

Check what arrives

Paper should match its order and package and fit the existing attachment correctly with power disconnected. Its holes should not be wrongly covered. For a backing pad, confirm the part number, body applicability and installation instructions before disassembly.

This approach does not pretend the conflicting dimensions have been corrected. It gives a confirmed paper option and a precisely scoped pad identity without confusing consumables with machine parts.

Paper and pad are different purchases

The abrasive sheet is consumable; the thicker support is a separate replacement part.
